Eastern Eurasian Steppe

I am a co-founder and director of two archaeological projects based in the Mongolian steppe. Visit the links below to learn more about each project.

Other work includes interdisciplinary research based on curated collections of material and human remains. This includes macrobotanical collections recovered at the site of Egiin Gol in northern Mongolia. This component of my dissertation research, which closely investigates the nature and diversity of Xiongnu agronomic practice, focuses on the the complete macrobotanical and isotopic analysis of these unpublished historic collections. These data supplement microbotanical and proteomic data from other sources (e.g. via human dental calculus from local populations) and are integrated with human and faunal isotopic data from both the local area and multiple regions within the eastern steppe of Mongolia.
